Made for iPhone

Your files and messages. Locked to you.

Features

A private vault and a private messenger, in one app.

Tap any feature to read more.

Named vaults Keep work, family and personal files apart.

Give each vault a name, an icon and a colour, and add folders inside it. Store photos, videos, PDFs, documents, audio and notes, added from Photos, Files or the share sheet in any other app.

Search by file name and sort by date or size. The free plan includes one vault. Pro gives you as many as you like.

Secure camera Photos go straight into the vault.

Take photos and videos from inside Vaultalk. They are encrypted the moment they are captured and never touch your camera roll, iCloud Photos or shared albums.

Open files without leaving Nothing is exported just to view it.

Photos, videos, PDFs, documents and audio open inside the app, so your files stay encrypted. If you choose to share a file out of a vault, Vaultalk warns you first that it will no longer be protected.

Two-pattern unlock Two patterns, one after the other.

Draw two different patterns on a 3x3 or 4x4 grid of numbered tiles. Both must be right, in order.

If either is wrong you see a single fail message, so nobody can work them out one at a time.

Shuffled number grid A new layout every time you unlock.

Turn on shuffle and the numbered tiles move each time you unlock. Smudges on the screen and people looking over your shoulder learn nothing.

Optional Face ID Faster, but never on its own.

If you switch on Face ID, it replaces your first pattern only. Your second pattern is always needed.

Self-destruct Too many wrong guesses wipes everything.

Choose how many failed attempts are allowed. A counter appears after the first mistake, and a final warning appears before the last attempt.

Reach the limit and every vault, message and contact is destroyed instantly, with no way back for anyone, including us. You can switch self-destruct off.

Recovery key A way back in, if you want one.

With self-destruct off, you can save a recovery key at setup to get back in if you forget your patterns.

With self-destruct on, the recovery key does not work, so nobody can use it to get around the wipe.

No number, no email Your ID is a random code.

Vaultalk creates a random 8-character ID for you, like K7QX4M2P. Share it in person by QR code, or send an invite link.

You can reset your ID at any time. It disconnects all your contacts and gives you a fresh start.

End-to-end encrypted chats Only you and the other person can read them.

Send messages, photos and files to anyone in your contacts. Each message is encrypted on your phone and can only be opened on theirs. Our server just passes it on and deletes it once delivered.

Read receipts are optional. The free plan includes one contact. Pro gives you unlimited contacts.

Group chatsPro Up to 20 people.

Create groups of up to 20 contacts. Every message is encrypted separately for each member, so our server never learns the group exists.

Disappearing messages Set chats to clear themselves.

Choose a timer for each chat, from 5 minutes to 4 weeks. When the time is up, messages delete themselves.

Silent alerts Nothing shows on your lock screen.

Notifications only ever say "New message". No names, no previews and no clues for anyone glancing at your phone.

Encrypted iCloud backupPro Restore everything on a new iPhone.

Pro backs up your vaults automatically to your own iCloud, encrypted on your phone first so neither Apple nor we can read it.

If self-destruct is triggered, you can choose for the backup to be deleted too.

Instant lock Locks the second you leave.

Vaultalk locks as soon as you switch away or lock your phone, and blurs itself in the app switcher so nobody can peek.

Set up in a minute

  1. 01

    Draw your two patterns

Pick a 3x3 or 4x4 grid and set your attempt limit.

  2. 02

    Fill your vaults

Add from Photos, Files or the camera. Shots go straight into the vault, never the camera roll.

  3. 03

Share your ID, not your number

You get a random ID like K7QX4M2P. Show the QR code and start talking.

Security

Not even we can read it.

The keys to your data live only on your iPhone. Our server passes sealed messages along and never sees what is inside.

  • Keys stay on your device

Held in the iPhone's Secure Enclave and never backed up to iCloud.

  • Every file sealed separately

AES-256 encryption with its own key for each file.

  • End-to-end messages

Encrypted on your phone, opened only on theirs. Groups stay invisible to the server.

  • We hold almost nothing

Random IDs only. No names, numbers, content or keys.

  • Locks the moment you leave

Blurred in the app switcher and locked as soon as it goes to the background.

  • Independently checked

A third-party security review before launch, with a published summary.

Compare

How Vaultalk compares

Already hiding things another way? Here is where Vaultalk is different.

Vaultalk vs the Hidden album in Photos Built into iPhone and fine for keeping photos out of your main library.

The Hidden album opens with your iPhone passcode or Face ID, so anyone who knows your passcode can see it. Vaultalk has its own two-pattern lock.

The Hidden album holds photos and videos only. Vaultalk holds any file, plus your private chats.

There is no wipe after failed attempts and no private messaging.

Vaultalk vs photo vault apps Good at hiding photos behind a PIN or pattern.

Most open with a single PIN or pattern. Vaultalk needs two patterns, on a grid that can shuffle.

Many ask for an email address or account for cloud backup. Vaultalk needs neither.

Photo vaults store files. Vaultalk also lets you talk privately to the people you share them with.

Vaultalk vs calculator vault apps Disguise a vault as an ordinary calculator.

A disguise hides that a vault exists, but what really protects you is how the files inside are encrypted. Vaultalk encrypts every file with its own AES-256 key.

Instead of pretending to be another app, Vaultalk relies on strong encryption, two patterns and self-destruct.

Vaultalk vs private messengers Great for everyday encrypted chat.

Most need your phone number to sign up. Vaultalk uses a random ID instead.

Their chats usually sit behind your phone lock. Vaultalk has its own two-pattern lock and self-destruct.

Vaultalk adds vaults for your files, and you can save chat files straight into them.

Questions

What if I forget my patterns?

With self-destruct off, a recovery key you save at setup can get you back in. With self-destruct on, there is no way back in, by design. We cannot reset it for you.

Can Vaultalk read my messages?

No. Messages are encrypted before they leave your phone and the keys never reach us.

Do my contacts need Vaultalk too?

Yes. You add each other by QR code, invite link or by typing an ID.

How much will it cost?

Vaultalk is free to start, with one vault and one contact. Pro is £3.49 a month or £24.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the annual plan.
